We Got Prom Covered!

Updated: Sep 17, 2018

Prom is the most exciting time for juniors and senior, however, for some families it brings stress and money issues. We've broken that barrier.

What is Prom In St. Louis?

A question we get all the time so here’s a full disclosure on who organizes it?, what is it? and how you can get involved?

Who Organizes It?

Prom In St. Louis was organized by Rich Girls, Real Women Inc, a non profit mentoring organization for young girls and women in helping them create social change within themselves and their communities. It was founded by Dana Lynn who believed all girls had the power within to make a difference.

What Is It?

In 2016, Rich Girls, Real Women Inc saw a high need for an event which would help families who could not financial afford the necessities prom requires. With a few donated dresses, shoes, and Domi More (small boutique) that open their doors to us, Rich Girls, Real Women Inc hosted their first event and called it Prom In St. Louis. That year they supplied any young lady who was attending prom dresses and shoes for the event. They serviced 22 girls. It was so successful that people demanded it to happen again.

By 2017, Prom In St. Louis became a home name and go-to service for prom. To keep it thriving the Prom Team decided that only juniors and seniors could partake in the event since most would be graduating, it was there way of congratulating them. That year they used the Finesse Center which is located downtown. Again, they were able to service 14 girls but due to unavailable parking, their count was low as opposed to the previous year.

In 2018, The Prom Team grew offering more services including, alterations, makeup, hairstyles, jewelry, decorations and even a raffle for 2 young ladies to receive hair, makeup and nails on the day of their prom. They hosted it at Selfie Salon, a well-known one stop shop. They serviced 15 girls and celebrated year 3.

For 2019, They plan to service 40

How Can You Get Involved?

Every year starting in June, we collect gently used prom dresses, evening gowns, and bridesmaid dresses. We go for those who have just attended prom an no longer see a use for their dress. Our pick up location varies and will now be announced through this page. If you know someone or you yourself have a dress, please message us at richlifefoundation@gmail.com

In October, we began building our Prom Team and recruit volunteers. Currently our Prom Team is full, however, we are always looking for volunteers in the areas of: setup, lunch runs, breakfast runs, assisting girls with dresses, clean up. Our volunteer link will be available on our site www.richgirlsrealwomeninc.org starting October 1st.

For those who have services they would like to donate, our service registration will be available on our site www.richgirlsrealwomeninc.org starting Oct 1st
